Camden Palestine Day

Attached are some photos from a very lovely day on Sunday at Calthorpe Community Garden – Camden Palestine Day – a day full of music, talking food, poetry, face painting, banner painting and pleasure in the company of peaceful people.

Those there were very aware of the terrible genocide going on against the Palestinians in Gaza and the horrible pressures of apartheid in the West Bank and Jerusalem. One highlight of the afternoon was an exchange on Zoom with the group of fourteen-year olds from Palestine that we had hoped to have with us today – because of the war between Israel and Iran, we postponed their tickets and hope now to see them here in September.

It was a truly wonderful afternoon in beautiful Calthorpe, a vision of the world that should be – people from everywhere enjoying being together – how different from the racial segregation and cruelty that our Palestinian friends suffer.

The afternoon was rounded off by sharing a vegan version of Palestine’s famous upside-down rice dish, makloubeh.

And there were too many people to thank – not least the enthusiastic audience, many of whom were new to us and have offered to help CADFA as volunteers. We’re really grateful to the Calthorpe Community Garden for letting us use their lovely space yet again.
