Very bad news from the West Bank today. Smotrich (Israeli finance minister with special responsibility for Israeli administration in the West Bank) has today declared that Israel plans to build over 3000 housing units for Israeli settlers in the middle of the West Bank, near Abu Dis and the Maale Adumim settlement.
This is the latest version of the E1 project that Israel has planned to do before and then pulled back (for a while). The Israeli government are clear about what they are doing – dividing the West Bank into two (making it very hard to have a Palestinian state along the lines that have been discussed endlessly since the Oslo agreements), building bigger numbers of Israeli settlements in the West Bank (directly against international humanitarian law) and further entrenching apartheid and supremacism.
This is happening as Israel escalates its horrible attacks and siege on Gaza. All disgusting
