Tatriz 4 Palestine
September 19 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Join us at Cafe Palestina for an exciting workshop on Thursday 19th September at 7.30pm . A chance to learn about and practise traditional Palestinian embroidery skills. This event is suitable for you whether you’re a beginner or have done embroidery before.
Enjoy mint tea and home made cake as you learn to make beautiful patterns of your own.
Your teacher will be Noora, who was inspired in her love of Tatriz by her grandmother Leila al-Khalidi, and set up the social enterprise “Taita Leila” (www.taitaleila.com). Leila was a specialist in the art who collected and wrote about the different embroidery patterns from across Palestine that have been handed down across the generations in a book titled “The Art of Palestinian Embroidery”
Noora has done two very successful tatriz workshops for Cafe Palestina as well as others in other places. She is keen to set up a stitching circle so people can come in on the first Thursday of the month, continue with their stitching and chat over tea.
