Public events during the Palestinian youth visit October 2024

Beyond the Checkpoints youth visit from Palestine to the UK in October 2024.

Join us in welcoming a group of young people from the West Bank to Bradford, Blackburn, Derby, Birmingham, North London, East London and Cornwall in October 2024

What is the visit for? To allow an exchange between young people in both countries, reach new people and raise the issue of human rights in Palestine more widely.

Where do the young people come from? A refugee camp in Nablus, a village, a town in the Jerusalem suburbs, Hebron… we hoped to have some young people from near Tulkarem and some from Silwan in Jerusalem, but (for reasons related to the Israeli occupation) they will not be able to join us.

How old are they? Between 13 and 16

How were they chosen? They were part of a project called Beyond the Checkpoints in Palestine in 2023. Some others from that project came on a visit in Feb-March 2024.

What will they do on the visit? They have a great programme of activities with young people in schools and youth clubs across the country. There will also be some public events (a Peace Conference, some welcome meals etc) which gives other people the opportunity to meet them

Who organised the visit? This visit is organised by CADFA and partners across the country in the Building Hope | Voices from Palestine project. We welcome your help and hope you can meet with the young people (see below*).

Have you done this before? So many times since 2006! Dozens of visits, hundreds of visitors, thousands of people involved and affected by these visits!

What is the feedback from your visits? This follows an exciting youth visit in February- March – See that project report HERE. These visits are part of the Building Hope project that we run with partners across the country.

How can you organise youth visits in this time of genocide? These are young people from the West Bank and Jerusalem, where things for Palestinians are also very bad, but not from Gaza. For them, travel though difficult is not always impossible. We were also very worried and postponed a visit from October 2023 till Feb-March (when it went very well, see the report). The problems are widening now as Israel seems to be pressing for a regional war – Number one is safety so we will keep our eyes open and if in doubt will seek advice.

How do you raise funds for the visit? Through the shared efforts of CADFA members, partner groups and individuals. DO HELP IF YOU CAN! Here is a Just Giving page but we would appreciate other initiatives too

How can our group be involved? The Building Hope project currently reaches to many areas in the country (north-west, Midlands, Wales, London, south-west) and welcomes the participation of new groups. if you would like to discuss another visit or activity, please be in touch! Contact@cadfa.org

Look out for our Building Hope Conference on 23rd Feb 2025 – and if you would like to be involved in the future, please get in touch contact@cadfa.org

How can I personally be involved? Ask CADFA or your local group about public meetings and what voluntary help they might need . Join CADFA or your local group for information, trainings etc going forward.

Where can I see the group? There are a series of semi-public events, listed below. Please look at the posters below for joining details  if you would like to join one of these events – More info from contact@cadfa.org
